Cocaine Bear

When Elizabeth Banks sent me the script for Cocaine Bear, my first reaction was... "Wow. So, how do you want this to feel?" When she told me we would lean into the period, the details of the genre, and to just have fun, I was 100% committed. Although set in Georgia and the Southeastern US, unfortunately all of the stages in Atlanta were booked, so we were forced to find another solution. Shot entirely on location in County Wicklow, Ireland, Cocaine Bear was a joy from start to finish. The challenge of course, was finding Georgia in Ireland! As I told the team, a few million years ago, the Appalachians were actually part of the same mountain range that runs through Ireland, we just need to find pockets of similar terrain! While we were busy building scenery and finding locations that felt like the US, we had an amazing decorator pulling vintage American props and decoration and shipping the materials to us. You'll be hard pressed to find any hint that this film was made just outside of Dublin, other than the fact that we branded our fast food restaurant as O'Shaughnessy's.
